The Carbon County Railway was a subsidiary of a subsidiary of U.S. Steel, built to access the Horse Canyon Coal Mine that provided fuel for U.S. Steel’s mills in the Western United States. The primary customer was the Geneva plant in Orem, Utah, running both in unit trains and mixed in with cars from other railroads over the famous Soldier Summit route. However, these cars regularly got mixed in with Utah Railway and D&RGW coal trains and often were diverted elsewhere in the country; a Carbon County Railway car was even photographed on the Keddie Wye on the Western Pacific in California, so these unique models are a must-have for anybody modeling the West in the 1970s and 80s.
This is the first time that models of Carbon County Railway cars are offered ready-to-run with the KarTrak ACI tags, wheel inspection dots, and COTS stenciling!
