This is a PRE-ORDER for the set. Artwork is conceptual and subject to change. This is a non binding PRE-ORDER for the set. Once the sets are received and ready to ship the buyer will be invoiced for the full purchase price of $579.99. These cars are expected to be delivered in the Summer of 2026.

From 1936 to 1937 the Denver & Rio Grande Western rebuilt its narrow gauge passenger car fleet to create two new luxurious named passenger trains, The San Juan  and The Shavano. This limited edition boxed set is the first ever representation of The Shavano in Plastic. Operating from 1937 to 1940 this short lived but noted passenger train operated between Salida and Gunnison Colorado. Rushing at a blistering 4 hour pace, trains 315 and 316 allowed for daily round trips between Gunnison and Salida connecting these communities to the rest of the state and the outside world.

These new trains were equipped with enclosed vestibules, electric lighting, AND steam heat, Representing the ultimate in comfort and luxury for the traveling public during the height of Colorado’s narrow gauge. Following the termination of The Shavano in 1940, many of the cars were transferred to Alamosa for use on The San Juan which connected Alamosa to Durango until 1951. Many of these cars still operate today on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. Unfortunately in 1942 the parlor cars Gunnison and Salida were sold to Nacionales de Mexico (NdeM) where they have since been lost to time, but now you can have them for yourself in HOn3!
