This is our tribute to John Allen's groundbreaking Gorre & Daphetid layout. John used the Superior Detritus car to showcase his weathering techniques in the hobby press during a time when weathering was still a new concept.
The original model as built in 1955 was lettered with a patchwork of commercial dry transfer sets. We started from scratch with this project, maintaining fidelity to the billboard lettering but making small adjustments to the data and small lettering to better match real cars from the time period. For example, John originally added a Pressed Steel Car Company builders' logo - an impossibility considering it's a wood car with a wood frame. We swapped that out for a AC&F Logo instead since we're using a 36' Accurail AC&F car.
This kit has been produced exclusively for us by Accurail AND INCLUDE Kadee #158 Semi Scale Couplers and metal wheels!
